In Memoriam of the Day: Louis C.K. delivers a stirring encomium to his hero and lifelong source of inspiration George Carlin at a tribute event hosted by the New York Public Library.

This made me tear up a little. I never got super into George Carlin, but I still think he’s really funny. What interests me most about this speech, though, is being able to hear the path and process Louis C.K. went through to get where he is now. I can definitely identify with that sort of “beacon in the distance” feeling, and what a reward it must be to find out that people care about your opinion on someone who meant the world to them.
